white 15 Five Things I Love and Five Things You LoveSend to Kindle

For this week’s Friday Blogging Experiment, I was originally going to do five things I hate, but decided to save that for a later date (perhaps next week), because I figured I shouldn’t talk about things I hate so close to Valentine’s Day. So instead, let’s play a game called “5 Things I Love.”

Here are five questions we can all answer. I’ll give you my answers, and then it’s your turn to respond in the comments. When I teach, I usually ask questions like these of my students each week, just as a way to get to know them. It’s an exercise in community building and relationships. We might even find that the answers you provide here will spark some interesting conversations with others!

So here we go:

1) Name a food you absolutely love – For me, I’d have to say sauerbraten, an amazing German dish that I only get about once a year, usually around my birthday, but boy is it amazing.

2) Name a band/musician you love – I have a really wide variety of musical interests, but it’s no secret that my favorite band for years has been U2.

3) Name a television show you love – This is tough because I don’t watch a ton of TV outside of certain sports and other events, but I think my favorite show right now is The Walking Dead. Now certainly, your choice doesn’t have to be a new one. If I were to choose from older shows, I might go with NewsRadio or SportsNight.

4) Name an author or book you love – Again, I have a lot, but in the end my all time favorite is probably C.S. Lewis, with J.R.R. Tolkien as a close second.

5) Name a sports team that you love – Pretty easy here: the Philadelphia Phillies. I love all of my Philly teams, but baseball is my favorite sport, so that seals it for me. If you’re not a fan of particular teams, per se, you can just name a sport that you happen to love, either as a spectator or participant.

So there you have it, my list of five things that I love.

Now it’s your turn. Just list them 1 through 5 and let us know which things you  love in those different categories, and have some fun with it!

1. Steak, pizza and stromboli. I love them too much for my own good.

2. The Beach Boys, Iron Maiden and The Smiths.

3. M*A*S*H, Emergency, Quincy ME - I love 70s TV.

4. Jared Diamond, especially "The Third Chimpanzee."

5. Phillies. I follow one team in one sport. Because I am from Hershey, I also enjoy the Hershey Bears, but the Phillies are my team.

1. I absolutely love Mexican food. I could eat tacos every single day.

2. My favorite band at the moment is Fun. This changes daily or weekly or monthly.

3. I loved Gilmore Girls when it was on. My current favorite is NCIS.

4. My favorite author has, since I was 14, been F. Scott Fitzgerald.

5. I don't have a favorite team, but I love baseball and basketball, if I must watch a sport. You will never find me watching football.

1. Tacos al Pastor - served in a corn tortilla with homemade hot sauce, chopped onions, and chopped cilantro. Bonus points if it comes off a food truck or I make it myself.

2. My musical tastes are all over the place, so it's nearly impossible for me to name a single favorite artist/band. Lately, I've been spinning lots of Pretty Lights and Ulrich Schnauss.

3. The Walking Dead is a current fav, as is House of Cards, the Netflix exclusive with Kevin Spacey.  Don't watch a ton of TV as a general rule, but AMC series can do no wrong in my book.

4. Nearly impossible for me to pin down to a single book, but I've been a lifelong fan of Tolkien and Kerouac.

5. Baseball: Red Sox, Rugby: New Zealand All-Blacks.

1. Chocolate cake with fudge frosting. All others are irrelevant.

2. KISS, of course. I've loved them since I was 10 years old. It's a lifestyle at this point.

3. The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson because laughter is an important part of your daily well being. He's also very honest about who he is and his monologues are spontaneous.

4. KISS, the Authorized Biography. It's like KISS Storytellers in a book. The thoughts behind the music.

5. How bout them O's hon. (Baltimore Orioles for the nonbelievers)

1.  Bacon.  All other answers are wrong.  :-)  Lately, I've also been into turkey meatloaf and turkey pot roast.

2 . Pete Yorn -- the dude just knows how to cut to the core with his music.

3. Justified -- now in its fourth season on FX.  I highly recommend, Ken!  I have seasons 1 & 2 on DVD if you're intereseted.

4.  1984, and not just because it's the year I was born.

5. LET'S GO PHILLIES!

Sauerbraten?!? That's your favorite food?! I don't know what to say.

1. Food: This one is hard. I have so many favorites. I love Mexican food, cheese, gelato, beets, nuts, peanut butter. I LOVE FOOD!

2. One Direction. HAAHAHAH! Just kidding. I really love Bruno Mars right now. But all time favorite? Again...too many to name just one.

3. TV? I don't watch much TV. Never seen The Walking Dead. Mr. D loves Homeland, but I haven't seen that either.

4. I refuse to name a favorite book or author. That's like asking me to name my favorite child. Can't be done. Of the last year, I really enjoyed Night Circus, 11/22/63, and Gone Girl.

5. THE CHICAGO BEARS!!!

3. NOVA (Ok, I'm a science nerd)

4. Battle Circle by Piers Anthony (If you haven't read this, it is just amazing. I'm sure @ginidietrich would like it because one of the civilizations are called the "crazies")

5. Washington Capitals

Food = PIZZA - I swear Im going to serve pizza at my wedding one day :)

Band/Musician = tough one for me to answer (no that's not the name of a band). Estelle?

TV Show = Dance Moms - something about it takes me back to when I used to dance but I dont recall my mother acting like that or wearing faux fur vests every day

Book = Summer Sisters by Judy Bloom - I could read this all day every day and never tire of it

Sports Team = I should say something like the Red Sox or the Patriots or Celtics or Bruins but I dont care about any of those. I just like a good game so whoever is not always winning would be my answer.

What a great way to inspire interaction, I will just HAVE to steal it, thanks!

1. My favorite food I love is Steak and baked potatoes, though I also love sauerbraten, which I only get about once every 5 years!

2. My favorite musician is my husband, Clay Krebs.  He writes amazing Praise & Worship songs that glorify God

3. Once I was introduced, I was hooked on 24.  Go Jack!  Even my dog is named after him.

4. Though I have many favorites from childhood through right now, the Bible remains number 1 with me.  It lives, it speaks to every aspect of life at every stage of life.

5. Even when I lived elsewhere, the Bronco's have always held my loyalty.  Sorry to see Tebow go, not a big Manning fan, but would LOVE to see my Bronco's in the Super Bowl 2013!!

Thanks for the opportunity to share Ken!  Visit my sometime at www.ghostbloggermarie.com and comment on one, two or all the Social Media for Realtors posts I have up there.  Great day to you!

@barrettrossie My one son works at Chick Fil A. Mmmmm. And good to see yet another Tolkien fan in the mix.

@jasonkonopinski I have a strange fascination with food truck food. We're seeing a lot more of them here in Lancaster, and I hope it really takes off around here. There's one Mexican food truck I haven't tried yet, but apparently it's seriously authentic. House of Cards is on my list as well.

@ginidietrich Sauerbraten is AWESOME! And yeah, Bruno Mars is soooooo much better than One Direction...yeesh. You need to check out the Walking Dead!!!

And who are these Bears? Never heard of them...

@Shonali I love Khow Suey! But Abba? not so much. Haha. And what a coincidence, I love the Indian cricket team as well!

@John_Trader1 @ginidietrich One of my students said Maryland steamed crabs as well! And I've heard that Ryan Adams can be quite the diva. I've been around him, but never officially met him. Never read any Piers Anthony, but then again I'm not a HUGE sci fi fan.

@C_Pappas Pizza? And you're getting married??? (just kidding)  and Dance Moms? Really? hmm. learning some interesting things about you...

@sydcon_mktg Nice list. and I do enjoy some old-school P-Furs from time to time. And I don't think I've ever read the actual book of Gone with the Wind!

@RebeccaTodd Interesting, in one of my classes this week, two people listed avocados! Deadwood is also on my list of shows to check out. And how about curling? I LOVE curling.

@KDillabough Interesting about the food. And I still haven't watched Elementary. It's on my list, though.

@KenMueller @John_Trader1 Ken, living in Philadelphia, I'm sure you could order a bushel of steamed crabs from down yonder in MD and enjoy them one summer day while watching the Phillies play on TV (that is, if you haven't already). If you ever do decide to read sci fi, make Battle Circle your first read!

@John_Trader1 @Erin F. Well, let's just say that the guy from Owl City probably needs a restraining order against her. And why vegetable lasagna, are you a vegetarian? If meat is an option, I always go with the meat!

RebeccaTodd
RebeccaTodd

@KenMueller Oh you must try Deadwood! Lots of swearing, but Milch shows an obvious preference for The Bard in how he writes. I don't watch much curling, although I do enjoy shouting "hurry hard!"

KDillabough

@C_Pappas I suppose single malt scotch doesn't count as a food group, right? ;) ;)

KDillabough

@KenMueller I think you will really enjoy Elementary. The interaction between Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu is what I watch for. Superb characters. Give it a watch.

Erin F.

@KenMueller He does not. He has to be the one to do the asking. All I'm requesting is that someone make him aware of my existence.

No, I'm not a vegetarian. I just like all the vegetables you can have in vegetarian lasagna. I'm actually not a huge fan of meat, though. It's probably been a good month since I've had any beef. @John_Trader1
