Social Media Creates Opportunities for Creativity and Collaboration

Meet my friends Jeremy and Jeff. Jeremy is a graphic designer and a musician. Jeff works in the IT field, writes, and draws comics. In fact, he is the creator of our weekly comic here at Inkling Media, The Social Life of Frank & Linh.

I met both Jeff and Jeremy as the result of Social Media connections. They met each other through the same channels: mostly Twitter and Facebook.

Jeremy had an idea for a cartoon/comic involving a touring band. He and Jeff connected via Social Media, and collaborated online to create a brand new webcomic which debuts today.

But before you check out the comic, head on over to my friend Andi’s blog for an interview, of sorts, with Jeff and Jeremy, just to get an idea of what we’re dealing with here.

Then head on over and read (and subscribe to) The Ouro Bros. and the Neverending Tour. It’s a webcomic born completely of Social Media.

I’m not one to play what-if…but if Social Media didn’t exist, none of us would know each other, and none of this would ever have happened.

Has Social Media helped you build creative and collaborative relationships? How are you using online platforms and channels to connect and create with others?

Big props to Jeremy and Jeff! We really love having Jeff on board at YDOP as our inbound marketing analyst. It's amazing to find a person with such a creative side who is also an Excel ninja and numbers nerd.

This is awesome to see another great collaboration brought about via social media. That's how Daniel Klotz and I met back when I was just getting started with podcasting and without that connection we wouldn't have The Lancast today. We also use social media to find and book almost 90% of our guests.
