I drive my wife nuts.
Well, I guess most husbands could say that, but every morning we take our dog for a 2-mile walk, and it’s one of the few times in the day where we get the chance to talk. Just the two of us. But we usually don’t get a lot of talking done because I’m often off on some other planet because my mind is wandering. Now that I’m in the habit of blogging regularly, I’m constantly viewing the world as one big blogging opportunity. I see something, and it gives me an idea for a blog post.
As I work with other bloggers, and clients who want to blog, the biggest question I hear is: “But what do I blog about?”
Certainly, you can blog about your subject and industry, but that can become awfully mundane. But no matter the subject, look for ways to relate it to the real world; the world you and your readers share.
Look around you. Examine your daily routine and the world around you. There are blogging content ideas everywhere. This morning while making a pot of coffee (a mundane daily task) I got an idea for a blog using coffee as an illustration. This happens to me all the time now.
So pay closer attention to your world. You’ll be surprised at all the ideas that come your way. And once you’re in the habit, it will happen naturally.
