People who work in the business, like myself, will tell you how important social media is. In fact, I think I spend most of my time with potential clients trying to explain to them WHY they should consider adding a strong social media presence to their overall marketing mix.
I have a whole arsenal of reasons I give them, but the most important is probably that in order to be effective, just go where the people are! eMarketer Daily is reporting today on a study from Beresford Research about just HOW much social media users really rely on their social networks.
I’m a prime example of this: my online social network often drives my real life interactions. This morning I attended a local Tweetup and got to spend time with about a dozen other Twitter users, some of whom have become close friends over the years.
In recent months there have a been a few studies and public proclamation from folks calling the function and viability of Twitter and other social media into question. Someone recently Tweeted this humorous, yet pretty dead on, blog about the 46 Stages of Twitter. If you are a Twitter user, I’m sure you’ll recognize yourself in there.
Over the next few blog posts I’ll be discussing some of the newest research findings and comments about Twitter, and looking at how Twitter can and should be used from a variety of different angles.
